Team Spaces: Roland’s Synth Studio
In this new blog series, we’ll be visiting each team member’s studio to learn more about their musical approach and their role at ALAN. This week, our founder Justin stopped by our Marketing Manager Roland’s studio for the first time to jam and see how he uses SpaceDrum in his creative process.
Roland makes ambient electronic music inspired by classic Detroit techno and electro, along with early Warp Records releases and the more atmospheric side of shoegaze, dream pop, and post-rock. True to his name, Roland is a passionate vintage Roland enthusiast and owns both a Juno-6 and SH-101, which he uses in nearly every composition, always run through a tape echo emulation. He’s also a huge Sequential fan and uses his Prophet-5 Rev-4 just as frequently as the synths that share his name.
Roland has spent nearly a decade in retail and marketing, building lasting friendships with artists and gear enthusiasts. One of those friendships is with ALAN Instruments founder Justin DeLay, whom he met while leading the Chicago Synth Exchange.
When Justin invited Roland to join ALAN as Marketing Manager, he didn’t hesitate. After trying SpaceDrum, he immediately fell in love with its sound and workflow. Roland is now excited to connect with anyone who wants to try SpaceDrum, whether in a studio hang in Chicago or at one of ALAN’s events.
